Who are we?
The HDEF is a grouping of evangelicals in the Welsh Marches, who seek to live by and promote a biblical faith. We are affililiated to the Church of England Evangelical Council (CEEC), which was set up by John Stott in 1960 to give a united voice to evangelicals, and so we don't simply sit in one evangelical 'party'. Our members have links with New Wine, Church Society, the Junia Project, ReNew, Fulcrum etc, but we are all united in our love of Christ and his Word.
We aim to resource and support each other and, at times, speak into wider church issues in a gracious manner. By its very nature the rural church is scattered and sparse, and so we are a place to come together and be encouraged.
We seek to hold three meetings a year with a speaker, usually in Ludlow, which are open to all and are also an opportunity for prayer and worship.
Membership
Members receive a regular newsletter with news and resources. To join us as a member, you'll need to be able to sign up to the CEEC Basis of Faith. Membership is free, but we do seek donations from those who attend the meetings in Ludlow to cover costs.
Ministers' Network
Members who are in ministry are also welcome to join our Ministers' Network which offers support, advice and prayer. We aim to meet in person, but talk more regularly in between times.
Are only Anglicans welcome?
Although we are Anglican in our foundation, we are glad to have members from other denominations who welcome evangelical fellowship. We do hope that you would forgive us if from time to time we talk about the good old Church of England!
